Created In His Image

Material

  • Photo of a famous person or photo of a child in the group

Steps

  1. Tell the children that a photo is “a physical resemblance or representation of a person, animal or thing, photographed, painted, or sculpted.”
  2. Then take a picture of someone who is in the group with a digital camera or bring a picture of someone that everyone will recognize as a famous person.
  3. Ask them if the photo is actually that person. Of course not. The photo cannot speak or think, but it shows a lot about the person and what they are like. Similarly, we are created in the ‘image of God’. We are not God, but created to be like him and reflect what he is. God created us in his image to be perfect, but just as a computer can “distort” or change a photo until you can no longer recognize the person in the picture, sin has distorted the image of God in us. God, however, sent his perfect image, Jesus Christ, to restore the image of God in us as we accept him as our Savior and our Lord.
  4. Read the following verse.
    • “So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image..”  2 Corinthians 3:18
