The Heart Of The Father

Gideon did not trust himself. He thought he was too small to accomplish great things and he had forgotten who his Father was, the Almighty God who created the whole universe and who is strong and powerful. Do you think you’re not important enough to accomplish great things?

If Gideon managed to defeat an army with only 300 soldiers, you too are able. How did he do it? He simply accepted the mission that his Father had for him and he listened to His voice to receive the instructions, the plan of attack. Then he obeyed.

You must not diminish yourself, you must do like Gideon, receive the mission and believe that with the strength of God, you will succeed in accomplishing great things. Are there things you’d like to do that you don’t dare do because you diminish yourself? Do you feel incapable? If so, take the time to discuss this with your Father.

That’s what we’re going to do now. We’re all going to take time to talk to our Father and we’re going to tell him in our own words the things we find difficult but that we would like to do. Open your heart to Him. He’s here with us, and He’s waiting for you to talk to Him.

Give the children time to talk to God. While they do, take the time to pray for them. Children love it when we pray for them.

Application

The coat and label

  1. You’ll need a coat or jacket, post-it and pencils.
  2. Tell the children to write on a post-it what people say about them and then tell them to come and stick it on the coat. Examples: I’m shy, I’m not smart, etc. These are phrases that prevent them from moving towards their dreams.
  3. When the coat is filled, pray with the children: “Father, I refuse to believe the lies that people have put on my life and I choose to believe what you say. I’m your son, I’m your daughter, and the plan you have for my life is good and great. I renounce the lie of the enemy and I choose to believe in your truth. In the name of Jesus, Amen.”
  4. Remove the labels, then throw them in the trash in front of the children.
