God Doesn’t Let Us Sink, He Brings Us To The Surface

 

 

Material

• 1 large glass
• 1 uncooked egg (on which you can draw a face)
• Fine salt
• Water

 

Steps

1. Start your lesson by pouring water into the glass.
2. Then show the egg and ask the children what they think will happen when you put it in the water.
3. Gently place the egg in the water and watch it sink to the bottom.
4. Explain to the children that the egg represents us when we feel discouraged. There are days when everything seems to be going wrong, we feel like we are sinking. We have the same feeling that Elijah had. He was very discouraged, he didn’t really want to live anymore. But in the Bible, there is a verse that says:
   • “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted,
        he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalm 34:18
5. Good news! When God intervenes, (put salt in the glass, a few tablespoons), those who felt discouraged and who felt like they were sinking, come to the surface!
6. Watch the egg come up.
