The Heart Of The Father

Ruth is a beautiful model of loyalty and we must follow her example. But it is not always easy to be loyal and keep our promises. Too often we say yes to someone without really thinking about it and, at the last minute, we change our mind. Have you ever thought about what it does in someone’s heart when you say yes and at the last minute you say no? How do you feel when a friend tells you he’s coming to your house after dinner and he calls you just before and he says, “Well, I’m not going, I don’t feel like it anymore”? We’re disappointed, we’re sad. We must learn to keep our promises and commitments. Just as the Father is faithful to us, we must be faithful to people. When the Father tells us that he is going to accomplish something, he always keeps his promise. When someone does not keep their promises to us, sometimes we lose confidence in them and awkwardness sets in between us and the person. Unfortunately a relationship is often broken for small and unimportant things. Have you lost friendships because of a lack of loyalty? If so, the Father wants to help you today.

Application

The Trash Can

Carry a big trash can with you.

  1. Give the children a sheet of paper and a pencil.
  2. Ask the children to write on the sheet of paper the name of a person who betrayed them, who destroyed their trust.
  3. Then they have to crumple the paper and throw it in the trash as they say this prayer: “Father, I give you this disappointment, I give you my betrayal and my lack of trust in this person and I ask you to restore the broken relationship, in the name of Jesus . Amen.”
