The Loyalty T-shirt

Material

  • Big t-shirts
  • Permanent marker (Sharpie)

Steps

  1. Before the class, take a large t-shirt (dad’s t-shirt) in which 2 children can fit and write, using a permanent marker, “THE LOYALTY T-SHIRT ” and “Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart” Proverbs 3:3.
  2. The goal of the activity is to make children live an aspect of loyalty.
  3. Divide the children into teams of 2.
  4. Take turns, place them as a team of 2 and give them a large t-shirt to wear. Then, give them orders: walk together as if you are on a narrow road, sit together, eat the snack together, etc. They must do everything you ask them to do together.
  5. Remember that loyalty is an important lesson to teach to children, especially at a time when people’s words no longer seem to be worth anything. People don’t take their wedding vows seriously. If it doesn’t work for me or if I don’t feel it anymore, it’s time to leave. Ruth’s story is a fine example of loyalty.

After the activity, have a discusion:

  • Are there any of you who no longer wanted to be with their partner?
  • Does loyalty depend on our feelings?
