The Heart Of The Father

Do you sometimes look at your friends and want what they have (a video game, the latest LEGO Model)? Or want to be like them (thinner, hair of another color)? This happens to all of us, but we must remember that lust is a sin. When there is sin in our lives, it can prevent us from living in all that God has for us. Fortunately, God the Father sent His Son Jesus to the cross to forgive all our sins! God the Father created each of us unique. In the Psalms, David says to God, “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it..” In creating you, God created a wonderful creature. He created just one (name the children one by one). There’s just one like you.

Application

  1. Ask the children to reflect on what they envy in the other people around them and write it down on a piece of paper.
  2. Then ask the children to repeat this prayer: “Father, I ask forgiveness for the times I have envied others around me. I recognize that you have created me unique and wonderful.”
  3. Now ask the children to tear up their paper and explain to them that Jesus has forgiven them and that this thing no longer holds them back!
