Scissors

Material

  • Cardboard (a box of cereal works well)
  • Coloured pencils
  • Markers
  • Tape with patterns
  • Paper fasteners (brads)
  • Display pins or tacks

Steps

  1. Prepare the equipment before class.
  2. Cut the piece of cardboard in half.
  3. Cut the shape of the scissors into the two pieces: a hole for the fingers and a tip at the end.
  4. Then, using the bulletin board pin, make a hole about 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the finger hole on each piece of scissor.
  5. Distribute the scissor-shaped pieces of cardboard to the children. Tell them to decorate them with pencils, markers or duct tape with patterns.
  6. Ask the children to tie the two pieces of cardboard together with the paper fasteners to finalize their scissors.
  7. Make the connection with the story of the day.
