Wave in a bottle

 

Material

• Transparent bottle
• Water
• Oil (vegetable oil or baby oil)
• Blue food coloring
• Plastic beads (blue and yellow)
• pipe cleaner (brown)
• Hot glue

 

Steps

1. Place the material on the table.
2. Tell the children to stick 3 blue plastic beads together, then add a yellow one at the top. It’s baby Moses.
3. Then tell them to form an oval with a brown pipe cleaner and stick the baby on top. It’s the basket.
4. Ask the children to fill their bottle with water up to half of it and add a drop of blue food coloring.
5. Tell the children to put the baby in the bottle and fill the rest of the bottle with oil.
6. Finally, ask the children to stick the lid with hot glue.

Optional

• Try to make a copy before to be sure the baby is floating. Ideally, the baby floats perfectly between oil and water.
• The kind of oil used can make a difference.
• You can also add a black pipe cleaner for the baby’s hair.
