The Heart Of The Father

Ruth is a beautiful model of faithfulness and we must follow her example.

But it is not always easy to be faithful and keep our promises. Too often we say yes to someone without really thinking about it. And at the last minute, we give up. Have you ever thought about what it does in someone’s heart when you say yes and at the last minute you say no? How do you feel when a friend tells you he’s going to play with you in the afternoon and when it comes time to play with you he doesn’t come? You don’t feel good inside, you’re sad. We must learn to keep our promises and commitments, just as the Father is faithful to us, we must be faithful to people. When the Father tells us that he is going to accomplish something, he always keeps his promise. When someone doesn’t keep their promises to us, sometimes we lose confidence in them and we don’t want to play with them anymore.

Have you lost friendships because of a lack of faithfulness? If so, the Father wants to help you today.

Application: The Trash Can

  1. Carry a big trash can with you.
  2. Give the children a sheet of paper and a pencil.
  3. Tell them to write on the sheet of paper the name of a person who betrayed them, who destroyed their trust. (You have to write the person’s name for them,)
  4. Then tell them to crumple the paper and throw it in the trash can as they pray:

“Father this person has hurt me, and I don’t want to have any more trouble because of it. Come and take the pain out of my heart and replace it with joy. Help me to become friends with this person again in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
